Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Format: ebook, paperback
Cost: $4.24 $11.90
Pages: 208
How I got it: Purchased from Publisher
My Rating:★★★★★
Erotica Rating: ★★★★☆
Synopsis:

She’s taking two bites out of the Big Apple. New York, Book 1 Riley Ramirez knew that moving to New York would change her life. She just didn’t expect it to start on her very first night in town. Her attraction to nightclub owner Kincade Marshall is instant, mind-blowing—and mutual. When she finds he is a Dom who requires her complete surrender, even when it comes to submitting to his best friend, Trevor Wellington, she finds herself willing and eager to embrace the sexual adventure. From their earliest days, Cade and Trevor have shared everything, including women. Yet it only takes one night with Riley to know she is their forever lady. Convincing her that this is more than a temporary fling, though, will take every tool in their sensual arsenal. As Cade and Trevor set their sights on Riley, however, they’re unaware—until it’s almost too late—that someone is targeting their fragile relationship. Someone who’s taking deadly aim at Riley. Suddenly their struggle to keep their forever woman is a fight to keep her alive… Warning: This book contains m/f/m ménage, bdsm play, lots of steamy p.d.a, and a fine dining experience that will leave you salivating for more.
My Review:
I got this book because a reviewer I love (Emily) gave it a high rating, & it sounded awesome (confession I only read the synopsis after i purchased it, because she loved it so it had to be good). OMgosh, I love this book. I loved this book, I laughed pretty hard @ nerdy moments, got really into the adventure of their love, & was really drawn in to their stories.

Riley is new to New York, and the first club she walks into belongs to slightly jaded Dom Cade, he thinks she doesn't belong there (and he is right) but he decides to get to know her and after he meets her knows that she is it, the one he and his best friend Trevor have been looking for.  This book for such a small tome really a had a great tale. I enjoyed it because the characters were well written, the adventure, the building of a couple trio was well written with all, even the 'side' characters.

The villian in this story went all out, I mean really though?? Who does all that?? They don't even know you exist, but a woman scorned and all that jazz.  When Riley ends up in the hospital and all the nurses are betting on who is her boyfriend I had to laugh, because so sounded like a couple the nurses I know.

Ummm I so need to read Brice's story, he was everything awesome. That scene with Cade & Riley, with Brice watching is just so hot. I can't even begin to describe how hot it was.  Riley was pretty good, someone I woul like to know, she had spunk, & according to her "gumption".  There is a slight BDSM theme in there, no real heavy stuff, but it is there, especially in that first scene between the trio & Riley couldn't  pick which was more dominant, yeah that was a good scene as well. And at dinner when Riley first met Cade, WOW!!

I really enjoyed the book & it will definitely be a favorite re~read. I'm going to go buy the second book in the series, I'm sure it will be just as good. Happy Reading my loves

Erotica Book Review: Teamwork (Hot Ice # 4)

Book Title: Teamwork (Hot Ice # 4)
Author: Lily Harlem
Publisher: Ellora's Cave
Format: ebook
Cost: $6.19
Pages:
How I got it: Author
My Rating:★★★★☆
Erotica Rating: ★★★★☆
Synopsis:
What I know about hockey could fit on the back of a stamp. So my latest patient may be one of the NHL’s hottest defensemen, but I’m not exactly blown away by his stardom. Add in the fact that he’s a surly, growling grump, and I’m more than happy to work my magic on his battered body and then hot-foot to my date with his teammate, Todd “Pretty” Carty. Todd is sex on a stick, a slice of man heaven and I want a bit of the action, preferably of the bedroom variety. But when Raven emerges from his bad mood and throws his energy into blowing my mind with just one kiss, I find my head spinning and my libido raging. What I didn’t bargain on is these hard-training, hard-playing hockey players working as efficiently off the ice as on it when it comes to getting results. But who am I to complain when satisfaction is their ultimate goal?
Excerpt:
I started to move away but suddenly he clamped his thighs around my body, pinning me between his legs. I gasped. “What…?” I was knocked off balance and had to rest my hands on his chest to stop from falling onto him. My heart rate rattled up several notches at the feel of rock-hard pecs beneath my palms. “As you seem so interested in my future, I’d just like to set the record straight,” he said, positioning his shades on top of his head and staring into my eyes. “What do you mean?” “I mean I am interested in women, in a sexual and damn appreciative kind of way.” “Of course, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have suggested otherwise, it was insensitive and…” My words trailed off and I glanced at a patch of vegetation beyond the screen. “And?” “And I was just teasing you, looking for a reaction.” He pressed his lips together and narrowed his eyes. “Teasing me?” “Yeah.” “Why?” “I figured you deserved it after all your sulking.” “I do not sulk.” “Oh, you must know you do.” I squirmed within his hold. He didn’t ease up even a fraction. “No one has ever teased me before.” “They haven’t?” I stilled. “Not even your family?” “No.” “Well, I guess there’s a first for everything.” I smiled, feeling unaccountably pleased that I’d gotten to him in a way no one else had dared.

My Review:
I particularly liked this story.  I can't wait to read the other books in the series.  It's a good story about  hockey player(s) falling in love with a their physical therapist.  They are some seriously good looking men & they are seeking love & lots of fun at first.  Fiona isn't a hockey fan so for her they are just hot looking men to really rev her libido, when she's offered the perfect opportunity to come to America, work with Todd & Raven, as well as attend a conference she really wanted to go to but couldn't afford, she was all for it.

Todd otherwise known as Pretty on the team is doing his best to woo her & she's all for it, except, a certain hardheaded hockey player has already occupied her heart, fascinated her and makes her want to shove him in a ice bath at the same time. Especially after their fight on the plane when she goes at him after he growled at her one too many times.

Raven was a hard nut to crack (come on I haven't done a lame joke in a while), I really enjoyed watching him slowly lose his inhibitions and fall deep. But he tries so hard not to let it show & yet his reaction when she came home from her date?? Hilarious!!! I particularly love the chemistry between the three of them.  I really loved reading the beginning of the love affair especially the love scene in the kitchen, when Todd licks his lips?? Yeah I knew then that he was a little in love with Raven.

I can't wait to read that story.  The other romances of the other hockey players sound like they might be a treat as well, I'll be looking into those as well. Keep on the look out I will be sharing reviews about those as well.

Book Review: Skye's Trail

Book Title: Skye's Trail: The Angelini Book 1
Author: Jory Strong
Publisher: Ellorascave
Format: ebook
Cost: $5.78
Pages: 242
How I got it: Purchased/Kindle Freebie
My Rating:★★★★☆
Erotica Rating: ★★★★☆
Synopsis:
For Skye Delano, the hunt and the kill are sometimes inexorably tied together. Her origins shrouded behind an impenetrable wall of mental pain, Skye has survived and evolved into a tracker, a hunter who metes out justice to those who prey on the helpless. Alone but not lonely, she's been content with her life. But now her body is changing and there's an underlying craving that's left her restless. She needs to take a mate - or rather, two mates...
Detective Rico Santana wants and needs Skye - for himself, and to track a couple of kids who have gone missing. In all the centuries that Giovanni Banderali has been alive, he's never desired any woman enough to bind her to him as a companion. That changed the moment he saw Skye. She's a threat to the fledgling vampires he's searching for, but nothing will stop him from claiming her - not even the Angelini blood that flows through her veins. Adversaries, natural enemies - dangerous allies - the bond that links them is stronger than lust, more powerful than love. When an Angelini chooses a mate, no man can resist.

My Review:
I haven't read any of the Angelini series, of course being an EC addict I have seen the books numerous times and thought "nah, I'm not into the vampires stuff".  Then I got this one, man, if my foot could get back there and do it proper I would kick myself.  I got it as a freebie because I love Jory's other books and have her on Goodreads as a friend. For her followers she was giving a freebie and I gladly accepted it.  I have been an avid read of Jory's books (many of which I repeat read when I have nothing new to read) she was & is one of my favorite writers. Actually she's one of my fave writers period.

Even though I'm doing the RCCleanup. I couldn't help but jump a the chance for a freebie from Jory.  So freebie, beloved author & no previous knowledge of the story...sounds like a recipe for potential disaster doesn't it?? Well....it wasn't, yeah I know I know I wax poetic about so many books but it's all true...this book had it all smoking hot men, a kick ass woman...batshyt crazy people & a pretty good plot line.  The characters were well written, they weren't flat or boring.  It took me two days to read this only because I read it while at work (shhh don't tell). LOL I snuck & read it as often as I could.  I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I so have to make room on the pile for the rest of the series because the other characters were interesting to say the least...

IJust kept imagining Giovanni as Erik Northman from True Blood, Yeah he just sounded that hot.  Definite burn rubber to get it.
Happy & delicious reading my loves!!!

How I got it: Author
My Rating:★★★★★
Erotica Rating: ★★★★★
Synopsis:
What’s a girl to do when the guy she falls for is married to another man? This is exactly what happened to me. Seeing Josh Kendal stroll out of the Mediterranean Sea wearing tight navy swim trunks and looking like a hot new James Bond was a truly delicious moment. Catching sight of his wedding ring was like a kick in the shin and meeting his gorgeous husband, phew, that was enough to make any girl groan at the cruel joke God was playing on her. But all was not as it seemed, and when Josh needed a woman to sort out a ‘delicate predicament’ I was the one for the job – heck, what did I have to lose? Certainly not as much as him, literally. Trouble is, emotions always get tangled, loyalties can’t help but be divided and with a night of memories so hot they'd have the devil sweating, there was only one thing for it—it was time to get honest, fight for what I wanted despite society’s constraints and open my heart to the people it needed most. Reader advisory - The Glass Knot is an erotic romance featuring M/M and M/F love and every combination of two guys and a girl you can think of!(less)

My Review:
I'm not even done & i'm in love with this book. I can tell it's going to be a favorite re-read. Lily has a way of writing that is so engaging, raw & real. When she (the author) said she was looking for reviewers I ddidn't even read the premise it's by her so I needed to get it & that's all I need to know!! Just amazing, the characters were all well written, you could feel like they were people you knew or even seeing this happening in real life. They were characters with depth & flaws & issues, even if they were described as being physically perfect.

Josh was just yummy, Nick was dominating, dark & mysterious. Laura was a fun & fun loving woman, who clearly knew her mind, had a strong will & I just loved that she was willing to take life by the horns. it's funny once I figured out what the premise was I kept flashing back to Samantha from Sex in the city when her best gay friends asked her to be their experiment & the hilarity that ensued from that. I couldn't wait to see how this turned out. It was better than I thought. Hilarious, wrought with emotions, & extremely well written I fell even more in love with the characters. laura's a very brave soul there are many who wouldn't have embraced the changes life brought her or event he opportunity.

The love scenes??? Wooohooo, I couldn't put it down, this is going on my favorites list & will be a definite re-read!!

Happy Reading

Book Review: Sharing Hailey

Book Title: Sharing Hailey (purchase)
Author: Samantha Ann King
Publisher: Carina Press
Format: ebook
Cost: $5.39 (from the publisher)
Pages: 240
How I got it: NetGalley
My Rating:★★★☆☆
Erotica Rating: ★★★★☆
Synopsis:
Hailey Anderson's deep, dark secret? She's been madly in lust with her overprotective brother's two best friends for years. Gorgeous woodworking artist Mark Allen and sexy doctor Tony Adamo have no idea they star in her fantasies every night.
After a nasty breakup with her abusive boyfriend, Hailey's looking for a little distance. Headed for a two-week Hawaiian vacation with her brother and his hot friends, Hailey can't wait to feast her eyes on Mark's and Tony's rock-hard, ocean-slick bodies. Even if she can't touch.
But instead of treating her like their little sister, Mark and Tony have a surprising proposition: a monogamous ménage à trois. The three of them—and no one else. Both men want Hailey and have agreed to share her. The red-hot reality is even better than the forbidden fantasy. Until Hailey's ex threatens their newfound happiness…
My Review:

With a premise like that how could I resist reading, hot men, Hawaii, a menage and lots and lots of fun to be had. I dove right in. I give this book about three stars; it was okay, nothing earth shatteringly new.  The concepts were great and the potential for an awesome story was there, yet the characters weren't as fleshed out as they could have been.

Now for the good stuff, when Hailey was with Mark and Tony it was good, I mean really good. They(the men) clearly have worked out before propositioning her what they wanted from the relationship, although that first bedroom scene clearly freaked the men out. LOL. I did get some serious chuckles out of that scene.   The story had to move faster than they clearly were prepared for due to Hailey's past coming home to roost but the overall emotions between the three was great to read, especially when they went dancing at the little club.   Now that dance was sensual.

Even saying all of that I found that the men were kind of forgettable, we really didn't get as much info about them as we could have, yes one worked with his hands and had a great home, but why was he like that?? It would have been nice to hear from the guys a little too. I did find that the most memorable characters are Hailey and the douche-bag ex, and her sister in law.  If your writing an erotica then make it an erotica, don't bog it down with real world issues; I get that she was trying to show how abused women don't really think of themselves that way, but it could have been written a little better.  It's still an okay read.

As I was reading I took these notes, and just want to share them as the review because it think it explains better how i felt about the book.
1) Hailey is clearly an abused woman and is still covering for him. I get that she wants to move on with her life but has she never seen a Lifetime movie?? How did she not see the signs?? Why is she still protecting him?? I would have told my big brother and my new partners all about it so there would have been no surprises when his crazy butt showed up uninvited.  Why put yourself in danger by getting out of the car, I would have seen him, & I would have kept driving. Hailey does some seriously questionable stuff because she's a people pleaser. Also she's a bit of a prude, they say it to her in the book and it's made clear throughout the book, especially after she calls herself a slut several times because she was lusting after two men.  Which then call into question the relationship, and what exactly she wants from it and for herself. Her concepts of what domestic violence is and her reality is a very off. She still trying to protect both him and herself from the truth. I wonder if she realized she was so easy to manipulate was because she refused to seek help even though she needed it??
2) Why does she care what her brother thinks of her sex life, Your clearly passed the age of consent, yes it might be a little awkward at first, but ummm.... not sure why your hiding it.

At this point I kind of started to dislike Hailey & here is why: This is my beef, I loved Hailey until the author compared her to Jennifer Aniston. I dislike, no loathe, maybe it would be better to say I can't stand the actress, nope let's go with the undiluted truth I hate Jennifer Aniston, yep harsh truth but my truth none the less (no I'm not judging her as a person I hardly know her, but as an actress?? If I pay money then you are fair game for me to judge you). To me she is just meh..and UGh.. she can't act, she always looks like she's about to cry and I just can't understand why the tabloids love her so much!! Her one accomplishment in life is that she was the first Mrs. Brad Pitt, to that I say so??? She still can't act her way out of a paper-bag.  When a character that I liked was compared to her?? Instant dislike. Anyone else, just about anyone else would have been better. And that dear authors is the danger in putting a famous person in your book for comparison, the readers preconceived notions and feelings about the famous person can and will change their reading experience.

I do like that the author made an attempt to tackle such a tough subject, but the issues Hailey has goes deeper than this book explored. Not to mention she took no time to heal and work through what made her so vulnerable to being abused before jumping into a new relationship. I get that these men have been there for years, and have been men she has wanted but never acted on because she couldn't choose, a little time to heal would have still been nice.  Mark and Tony clearly loved her as more than a friend for years, and yet neither said anything, I loved that they valued their friendship more than the off chance that it wouldn't work.

I wanted to love it, but instead I walked away liking it, I was happy for Hailey in the end, but man she clearly needed to see a Lifetime movie.
Happy reading..
Enjoy.

Erotica Book Review: Hostile Takeover

Book Title: Hostile Takeover
Author: Joey W Hill
Publisher: Ellorascave
Format: Ebook
Cost: $7.99
Pages: 408
How I got it: NetGalley
My Rating:★★★★☆
Erotica Rating: ★★★★★
Synopsis:
Ben is the last unattached member of the five-man executive team of K&A Associates. The other four, all Masters, have found the submissive of their dreams. That’s fine. The sharp-edged lawyer knows he’s the most hardcore of all of them, with extreme tastes as a Master he satisfies physically through experienced club submissives. He doesn’t really need anything more than that.
Marcie has loved Ben since she was sixteen. He’s never behaved as anything more than a protective big brother, a family friend. But now she’s twenty three and starting her career as a corporate investigator. She may be a blood-and-bone deep submissive, but she won’t hesitate to use her aggressive talents to prove she’s meant to be his. With a Master as tough as Ben, she’ll have to take whatever measures are needed—even if her deepest desire isn’t a hostile takeover of his heart, but an unconditional surrender to it.
Reader Advisory: Marcie’s sexual journey contains a group scene of female/female sexual exploration. The Masters also share her in a brief group scene. Both these beautifully erotic moments are essential to deepening Marcie’s bond with Ben.
My Review:
Side eye from hell for that cover...now on to the review:
I enjoyed this book. It's been awhile since i have read such a hardcore full on BDSM book, and I'm glad I did. This is one of the better books out there. It's what thebookthatshallnotbenamed wished it could be but isn't.

You see it had well developed characters both the main and secondary characters were more than just cardboard cut outs; they shared emotions and feelings and really came alive as I was reading. Now I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scenes between Ben and Marcie, Marcie is a ballsy submissive, going full head on for her man, she wanted and needed Ben's kind of Dominance and she wasn't settling. I loved that when faced with losing him she made the decision to move on to someone who was like him, even though he tried to pass her off to Doms who wouldn't have replaced him in her mind.

Let's back up a bit, Marcie is the kind of sub some Doms fear, she's a full-on, no holes barred, 24/7 sub who wants nothing more than to belong to a Dom worthy of her & to her Ben is that Dom. Ben is a man who has survived a rough childhood, with the guidance of the men he met because of the man who caught him when he tried to pick his pocket.

With the structure of BDSM, Ben has found a home a place where he can call the shots, and boy does he love to call the shots. He has a kink he thinks no sane woman would want except for the ones he pays at the clubs, so he holds himself aloof from the women in his life. He loves fierce and deeply but doesn't trust enough to love a woman of his own. He fights Marcie's plan to snare him, yet signs up to be her Mentor instead of her Master. When he realizes she was going to move on a find someone else whose claim would challenge him, he lost it. Which lead to one of the most intense scenes in the book, which was then followed by Ben being an idiot, and Marcie showing him that just because she's a sub doesn't mean she's a pushover.

Can I just say how well written these characters were?? They just flowed so well when interacting with each other and even when we were seeing through their eyes. Marcie kinda reminded me of Maggie from the Secretary, how she fought to get her Dom to acknowledge the truth, but was willing to move on when he didn't. Ben took a little longer to get to the party, but when he did boy did he show up, he went all out with her in their first real scene and even though he stated he didn't do missionary or face to face, when he did it along with the aftercare which he normally left to someone else i just knew he was hers.

I had a few bones to pick with the book however, I didn't like how Ben reacted at first. I am glad that the other characters didn't let him off the hook easy; he had to work to regain their trust as well as his sub's trust. The CNC which he had at the very beginning was kind of scary to me, but clearly what they both needed. I personally couldn't have gotten down with my brother in law, it's just not within my scope of thing I can do, but i understand why the group mentality needed it; it just wasn't my cup of tea.  Also her fantasy??? Yeah no, just NOT happening, no way no how. I just can't. I get that Lucas isnt't a father figure for her, but that's just not how I role. Rolls way too close to a taboo for me.  I get that this is fantasy and women don't want to read about ordinary looking men with ordinary looking bodies, but must every guy have the perfect shape and be hung like a horse???

I did love the book, and was happy I read it, especially because I haven't had a good hardcore one in a while. It's a definite read if your into hardcore BDSM, anal, oral, orgie scenes and F/F interplay.

Book Review: Erotica: Seven Day Loan

Book Title: Seven Day Loan
Author: Tiffany Reiz
Cost: $ 2.50
Pages: 41 Ebook
How I got it: ARC from NetGalley
My Rating:★★★★★ & Five Steamy Stars
Synopsis:
A trained submissive, Eleanor will do whatever her master commands...even spend a week with a stranger. Daniel has been a recluse since his wife's death, and Eleanor's lover thinks spending time with her will be therapeutic--especially since Daniel is also a Dom.
Despite her defiant streak, Eleanor can't resist giving in to Daniel's erotic demands. But while she'll let him have her body, she's determined to keep a guard around her heart. Even if Daniel wants to make Eleanor his permanently...

My Review:

Wait no!! That shouldn't be how it ends1!! Gods darn it. I wanted to root for both of them, but I  understand her loving her Dom. My goddess this book was sensual, fun, naughty, and ohh sooo good. It packed quite a punch for such a little book. I'm became so emotionally invested in them in such a short time. Oh now I need to know else what happens to both characters.  I just keep remembering her last line "..I know what love is and it's waiting for me at nine".  Just amazing.  Even though her Dom isn't mentioned much, he's an enigmatic character that clearly has inspired strong loyalties in both the characters.

Eleanor is clearly upset at being handed off to someone else for a week, but she knows this will please her Dom and help another who needs it. Daniel's a sexy librarian who also happens to be a Dom, *drools*; he's also clearly still in love with his wife, but Eleanor helps he come back to life; and slowly let go of his grief.

P.S. I figured out by say the 1/2 way point who or what her Dom was way before they told us. The hints were all there. You simply had to follow them. I liked no I loved this little novella. Just wish it had been longer.

Happy reading

Book Review: Erotica: Improper Relations

Book Title: Improper Relations
Author: Juliana Ross
Publisher: Carina Press
Cost: $2.69
Pages: ebook about 50-75
How I got it: ARC from NetGalley
My Rating:★★★★★
Synopsis:
Dorset, 1858
When Hannah's caught watching her late husband's cousin debauch the maid in the library, she's mortified--but also intrigued. An unpaid companion to his aunt, she's used to being ignored.

The black sheep of the family, Leo has nothing but his good looks and noble birth to recommend him. Hannah ought to be appalled at what she's witnessed, but there's something about Leo that draws her to him.

When Leo claims he can prove that women can feel desire as passionately as men, Hannah is incredulous. Her own experiences have been uninspiring. Yet she can't bring herself to refuse his audacious proposal when he offers to tutor her in the art of lovemaking. As the tantalizing, wicked lessons continue, she begins to fear she's losing not just her inhibitions, but her heart as well. The poorest of relations, she has nothing to offer Leo but herself. Will it be enough when their erotic education ends?
My Review:

OMGosh, this book is hot!!! Wow, from the very beginning it's erotic and steamy, hitting several kinks within the first few minutes. I loved Mrs. Bell, she was so curious and refreshingly entranced by her discovers as much as her feelings for Lord Alfred (Leo).

For his part Leo was the dashing but lovable rake who took his cousin's wife beneath his wings and showed her all about the pleasures of the flesh. As I read I couldn't help but want more, more about him; I loved that the end made up for all those curious little questions I had about him and what he did all day when not in his interludes with Mrs.Bell. Those scenes certainly steamed up the pages, and boy oh boy did it make for a fun and thrilling read.

A definite quick read for the vocatious readers, who wish for a little thrill on a good afternoon.
Happy kinky reading my loves

Book Review: Zoe’s Gift

Book Title: Fallon Mates: Zoe’s Gift
Author Jory Strong
Publisher: Ellorascave
Pages: 174
Cost: $6.99
How I got it: Purchased
Synopsis: One look at the human female who is his match and the mating fever of the Vesti ignites in Miciah, making it impossible for him to deny what he wants. To go to Earth and claim her, he must choose an Amato co-mate. For him there is only one choice, the bisexual Iden. It’ll mean breaking the cultural taboos of the Vesti, but for Zoë, he and Iden will become lovers.

Miciah intends to keep his sexual relationship with Iden a secret as they take Zoë together. Iden has other ideas. What neither of them can know is they’ve starred in Zoë’s dreams for a week, so when they show up in her reality, she welcomes the chance to explore their fantasies—and her own.

My Review:
Having only read one other of the series I was so intrigued by the concept that I went searching for & found this one.  I love the place they met (sounds a lot like Burning Man if you ask me); to Zoe’s gifts, the tension between her two matches & their own story within the story.

I loved how she created a whole world, a back story, and history without bogging down the book. The love that developed between the trio is amazing, they build a relationship which is heightened by the mating fever that they are exposed to.

Zoe is special, she is a psychic of rare talent and this helps her, when she moves to the new planet with her lovers.  The gods that created their world also created or sent some of their people to Earth, so the story links up well. I loved this story although I personally wouldn't have kept that kind of information from my mates that she did, we all have our own ways of dealing I guess.

I liked that as their relationship grew they embraced all parts of the relationship and even took on a cultural taboo and made it easier for others to face their fears.

I'm hoping to read the rest of the series, but I believe this was the last one she wrote, before she had to take a break (don't quote me but I might remember this as something she had on her website) due to her mother passing. You can catch up her on her website here, or even on her page of Ellorascave , or on Goodreads.

Well enjoy this new read. It's out of this world (of course I had to come on..)

Book Review: Dark Hunger

Book Title: Dark Hunger: Hot Blooded
Author: Christine Feehan
Publisher: Jove
Pages: 107
Cost; $ 7.99
How I Got it: purchased
Description:In a dark jungle a beautiful activist liberates animals from a secret laboratory-and stumbles across an unexpected prisoner. She releases the Carpathian from his bonds-only to unleash his voracious appetite on herself....

My take on the book:
This is one of the stories that expands the world of the Carpathians. I actually really enjoyed this book more than any of the others. This female character comes packed and fully loaded as an equal to the Carpathian male, she's just as strong, just as brave and just as willing to protect those who need to be protected. Juliette is amazing,

She protected the women of her clan & her family, when she met her mate she was willing to meet him half way, but wasn't willing to just walk away from her family. Juliette's story brings two other women into the world who have a special talent and actually setup stories for other men to become mates to them.

I personally loved that she wasn't a 'brand-new' woman & that she wasn't without her own power.
I truly enjoyed this one & the one I will be reviewing next. These showed women who weren't completely out of their depths & weren't afraid of embracing the new men in their lives. They knew themselves and what they wanted & were willing to explore this. The Carpathian that she mates with is one of the better ones, he didn't just high jack her life, he actually cared about her desires.  Which is a great leap from the other cavemen from before, even though many of them changed once they really got to know their mates.

I enjoyed this one due to it's sensual & masterful love scenes.
Enjoy this one, Be Blessed

Book Review: Dark Secret

How I Got it: from personal library
Description:
Rafael De La Cruz has spent centuries hunting vampires with his brothers, and with each passing year his capacity to feel emotions has grown weaker and weaker until finally there's barely been a memory left-until only sheer willpower keeps him from turning into the very abomination he hunts. But it'll take more than will to keep him away from the woman who is meant to be his and his alone…
For five years, rancher Colby Jansen has been the sole protector of her younger half-siblings, and with fierce determination and work she has kept her family together and the ranch operational. Now, the De La Cruz brothers are threatening that stability. They claim that her siblings belong with their father's family, not with her. Colby vows to fight them-especially the cold and arrogant Rafael De La Cruz. But Rafael is after more than her family-he wants Colby and will not let anything stand between them. After ages of loneliness, the raw desire to possess her overwhelms his very soul, driving him to claim her as his lifemate…. (from Christine's site)
My take on the book:
I'm beginning to sense a theme in these books...centuries old Carpathian men who think they can get away with anything; young women yanked into a world they weren't aware of, & vampires hell bent on running amok. Throw in some smoking hot sex scenes, lots of magic, some adventure = pretty good story.

Colby?? Vacilitates between knowing her own mind & being childish, Rafeal?? Is just a Carpathian male. Together? they manage to bring out the best & the worst in each other. Rafael is doing his best when he discovers his mate is bossy know it all human who doesn't listen or do anything he tells her; Colby is an independent, stubborn young woman struggling to keep her head above water; she is however trying to do her best for her siblings & that means she's not exactly looking for someone to settle down with. She is about the business of doing what needs to be done.

Unlike so many of the other stories I both liked & disliked this story, there were moments where I wished to shake Rafael for the things he would do, he didn't really listen to her & was really only thinking of how the lifemate thing worked out for him, not so much about how it affected his lifemate.  I love the fact that they have to work to build their relationship, & that Rafael learns that eternity just may mean sleeping in the dog house for centuries, because Dragonseeker's can hold grudges for that long.  The realism within the story makes it even more amazing, seeing that Colby isn't just a random needs to be rescued young woman but a woman in charge made me like her. Although sometimes she did things that made me want to shake her as well.

I particularly like the villains in this story, before they were just there not really enhancing the story but just as a way to highlight the superiority of the Carpathian males who had found lifemates, now we are beginning to see some of what they were before they became vampires, I mean they are supposed to be once great Carpathians why all of a sudden they can't do anything except become cannon fodder??.

This book took you on a bit of a role coaster ride, but a good one, one you look back fondly on and may repeat in the future. This is a really good repeat read, & I find myself fast becoming obsessed with the Carpathian world. I really want to read Nicolas's story as well as Vikirnoff. I totally love that as the story goes on Mrs. Feehan enhances it by adding on more elements, more history, more families, while still mentioning the other stories, & the other great Carpathian hunters & their mates.

Overall 5/5 for the story
5/5 for the love scenes

Book Review: Dark Legend

Book Title: Dark Legend
Author: Christine Feehan
Publisher: Penguin
Pages: 394
Cost; $ 7.99
How I Got it:  my personal library
Description:
He woke deep within the ground, and the first sensation he felt was hunger. An overwhelming hunger for blood that demanded satisfaction. But as he hunted the dark streets of Paris for prey, a voice called to him, soothing, calming, giving him the strength to control his craving.
Francesca Del Ponce was a healer, a woman who radiated goodness as powerfully as the sun did light. But surely his obsession with her would turn him as his twin brother had turned, leaving the world with two monsters instead of one. ---- from Amazon.com
My take on the book:
Out of all the books I have read so far in the series, I love Francesca the most. Unlike the other female characters who were matched young & are fledglings compared to their men, she has managed to stay hidden for over a thousand years & created a wonderful life for herself. She learned & cultivated her healing talents, she studied science & figured out a way to make herself almost human, in fact she accomplished something no other Carpathian had been able to do, walk in the sun. From the beginning of the book I was in love with her character & her mate coming to her when she needed him the most was totally awesome. I enjoyed reading about a truly (slightly lonely but still loving her life) independent Carpathian female who made such a huge impact in her own way.

Gabriel is learning all about the new world he has woken up in & luckily for him the first person he meets & the first to offer him aide is Francesca, his mate. He is the legendary half of the vampire hunter twins, who had for centuries were believed to have been destroyed. Some of his methods to keep his lifemate with him, I would call him out on for believing he has the right to do some of them, but when you consider the alternative you can see why he does it, although they border on this side of being chauvinistic.

There are only a few moments in the story where I felt like shaking her, in particular her reoccuring sense of guilt over not being able to love someone who wasn't her mate. I understand why she felt that way, but uhmmm it's been a while honey get over it. I enjoyed the added twist to the story in particular Lucian's story; I look forward to reading about Lucian, & hopefully Skyler will get her own book soon as well.

I give the overall novel 4/5
I also give it 5/5 for steamy & sensual love scenes

That's another one off the TBR List. How are y'all doing on your lists?

Book Review: Dark Magic

Book Title: Dark Magic

Rating:★★★★★
Erotica Rating: ★★★★☆
How I got it: From my personal library
Synopsis:
Young Savannah Dubrinsky was a mistress of illusion, a world-famous magician capable of mesmerizing millions. But there was one-Gregori, the Dark One-who held her in terrifying thrall. Whose cold silver eyes and heated sensuality sent shivers of danger, of desire, down her slender spine. With a dark magic all his own, Gregori-the implacable hunter, the legendary healer, the most powerful of Carpathian males-whispered in Savannah's mind that he was her destiny. That she had been born to save his immortal soul. And now, here in New Orleans, the hour had finally come to claim her. To make her completely his. In a ritual as old as time . . . and as inescapable as eternity.

My Review:

I'll admit, I read this book years ago, when it first came out, I have been a Feehan fan for years. Then I got way too absorbed with other things & stopped reading for a while. This year I decided to read more of the books I have unfinished on my shelves before buying the rest of those on my list. To truly understand Feehan's books I like to read the whole series before jumping into the newer ones. I like knowing the background of the characters, it adds something to the story.  Once again I picked up my favorite book from the series, because for me this is where the series really got good.  Unlike the female characters before who played at being strong, or self sufficient, Savannah actually did what was necessary to have her own life.  I'm not too fond of their first few moments as a couple together, but I guess it proves the story arc, that he almost waited too long.

The concept of the Carpathian race being different from the vampires, is pretty cool, it allows Ms Feehan to have her own world without making or breaking the "known" lore of the vampires.  She can create her own language, myths & legends; even their own rituals, with no one being able to say "Yay" or "nay".

Pros of the story: it's a very erotic romance between a man deeply ingrained in the Old World mentality, who becomes a little more modernized as he falls in love with Savannah.  Savannah is a strong character.  They 'realistically' build a relationship which is aided by finely honed instincts which gives them a greater advantage over our own human methods, yet doesn't prevent any of the fireworks that comes from building & melding two completely different lives.  & the love scenes are very steamy.  The characters although seemingly 'perfect" had their own faults & insecurities which they had to work on separately & together, which made the lvoe story even more appealing.

Cons of the story: Gregori sometimes borders or even actually does some 'caveman/chauvinistic" antics and we are to accept that this is okay because he is Carpathian and he loves her. O_O

It only works because in everything else Gregori has had to be brought (with a little kicking involved) into the modern world of living with Savannah. I thoroughly enjoyed her schooling him on "modern" women, Very steamy, the story was very well written. I loved it I love to re-read this one when I'm bored reading 'regular' books.

It's one of my favorite Carpathian books, and one I enjoy re-reading. I hope you will enjoy it too.
