Oh my loves we have made the journey, learned new crafts, watched some awesome movies, created our Samhain oils & incense, released our old goals and made our Celtic New Year's goals.  It's the end of the Celtic Year and the morrow brings a new one, a new dawning and a new beginning. Today at the thinnest point of the veil, we honor out ancestors, those that have come and gone. Light a candle for those who's family lines have died out, those ancestors you may never know and welcome the beloved ones who have passed.

Today is a day to reflect, predict the future & reconnect to Spirit. Wishing you the best and warmest of Samhain blessings. May only those you have loved and miss visit you tonight, and let the lanterns do their best and scare away those spirits that have no lessons to share.

Good Witch Blog Party Post

ooops i thought i hit post and apparently i didnt sorry for the late post...

This weekend was the preimiere of the Good Witch's Charm, the newest installment in the series. And this one of course didn't disappoint, much in-line with the previous movies we find Cassie a few weeks after the birth of her newest child, her installment as the town's mayor and of course she still runs the Bell, Book & Candle.  It's a chance to see what's happening in the lives of the family since the last movie, and quite a few changes have actually taken place. It's a family friendly move with lots of lessons to be learnt, and as each movie progresses they seem to get more comfortable adding a little more magic.

Since much of the movie focused on Cassie learning balance as well as finding the right tools or people for the right moment or situation, I will be sharing two different ideas to help along with those.

Spell/Meditation for Balance:
At the moment it's fast approaching Samhain, which is a balance a time when the veil thins and those who wish to visit come home; but there must be balance as well, we must honor our dead love ones while preparing for the winter which is now fast approaching. Being present and being honorable to the past takes a bit of balancing.

One of my fave YTers Flora had a discussion about using stone stacking. This meditation is using stones to focus and meditate while stacking the stones.  As your stacking your should imagine balance, imagine yourself becoming more in tune with yourself, remember becoming centered and feeling yourself return to center to self.

The Spell:
Is a bit of a chant i repeat it over and over until i feel balanced, repeat the part of the phase you feel you need to become in tune with until you feel the energy being balanced.

Balanced and in tune

Balance the Chakras to return to center as well, you can meditate on each area and help clear the air and help clean them out and refocus them.  You can also use the blend below to help with the balancing, by simply adding the oil to each area (each specific oil for the chakra) l apply the oil then imagine the chakra being cleaned out. and being opened then spinning in it's proper direction. I release the negative and send positive thoughts to the chakra and imagine becoming in tune.

Chakra Oil more information can be found on the Sun Rose aromatics  website and their pre-made chakra oil blends (which are divine)

Carrier oil *like jojoba*
Essential oil for each chakra
Small bottle to store each oil

Add two to three drops of essential oil at a time until the oil is a strong as you like it.

To use simply massage into or near the corresponding chakra point. DO NOT  PLACE NEAR MUCUS MEMBRANES. so not on the genitals

31 Days of Samhain: Day 24: Scrying Mirror:

Well it's another day into October and even though i haven't quite made my home the way I wanted to I have gotten quite a bit done this month.  This idea is for something I once made many years ago, when I first came into the craft I made one of these and then promptly forgot about it, then my Mom "cleaned" out my pagan items this was one of the first ones to go.  Since then I haven't really needed it, but now I have advanced enough in my craft to not only want one & also need one.

I went back and found Silver's guide to creating the scrying mirror, then got Flora's visual and her info about using the mirros & I thought I would share with you here. As well as my images of making my newest mirror.

Here is what I have been doing:

Supplies:

• Small mirror
• black paint
• small sponge brush
• newspaper to catch any spills
• yarn to be used to make a holder or bag
• frame to put it on (optional)

Directions: **Takes about two hours to paint & allow to dry.**

Make sure to clean the mirror before you start. I used a vinegar and water mix then prayed over the mirror before starting.

• Layer paint and allow to dry between each layer.  What I did was allow it to dry then paint in the opposite direction so that no site of the actual mirror was left.

• You can meditate and concentrate on the purpose of the new mirror, 
• Once dry you can mount onto a wooden block, using either wood glue, or a glue gun.

I am going to crochet the bag later to hold the scry mirror, the white yarn is to protect the mirror itself and the black is to reflect any negative vibes away.

I am going to also do a blessing before I use it on Samhain.  When I made my first scry mirror as I painted it, I said a prayer as I added each layer, it was a pretty powerful mirror, even if it only got a few uses before it was destroyed.  

One of the things I have done differently as well is to cleanse it and keep it on the altar so that the Goddess and God know it's a new tool and will help keep it from being used in adverse way.  You can wash it with moon water or solar water depending on the energies you want the mirror to have.

31 Days of Samhain: Day 17: KWW: Pumpkin

It's another week of Kitchen Witchin Wednesdays, make sure to swing by Emberlyn's Blog.  

One can't think of fall without thinking about changing leaves and pumpkins, We know to make pumpkin seeds, and pumpkin pie, but what else do we use pumpkins for?? Other than decorations. Don't gimmie those looks O_o. Anywoo in Jamaica we put pumpkin in our soups to help thicken them up, you can make roast pumpkin and all kinds of things. One of my newest recipes, comes from a Kindle freebie and I can't wait to get more pumpkin to try out all the recipes. Here's my fave so far:

Pumpkin Potato Skins:

Serves 6 (or several dinners/lunch for two )

Prep Time: 10 mis

cooking Time: 1 hour for the potatoes, 15 mins to reheat.

Ingredients: 

7 large baking potatoes

1 cup cooked cubed pumpkin

2 tbsp butter

1 tsp salk (optional)

1/2 tsp pepper

1 tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp nutmeg (optional)

1/4 cup sour cream

1/4 cup cream

1/2 cup grated Swiss of Cheddar cheese

chopped chives , to garnish

Directions:

• preheat oven to 425F. Place potatoes in the over right on the rack. bake for 1 hour or until cooked.
• Remove form oven slice in half. Wear protective gear, remove the 'pulp' of the potato, set skins aside
• Stir the cooked pumpkin, butter salt, pepper, baking powder, nutmeg, & both creams together in a mixing bowl with the pulp, whisk together until light and fluffy.
• Spoon bake into the skins, bake in the potato skins. Top with cheese.
• bake at 400F for 15 mins. 
• Garnish with chopped chives.

31 Days of Samhain: Day 13: Bewitching Home Blog Party

Ahhh my loves it's a Bewitching Time, and Bewitching Home  Blog Party by The Witch of Howling Creek. For this awesome Party I must thank her for hosting. It's sure to be an awesome treat.  For me Samhain isn't Samhain unless the home is decorated as well.  Lots of food and candy too.  I'm going to share two of my projects that I am working on to have in my home this Halloween.

First project up:

Samhain Wall Hanging

Items needed:
Scissors, 1/2 yd Halloween themed fabric, 1/2 yd fusible interfacing, 2 yds black ribbon, three buttons, iron & board, tape measure, white glue, fusible webbing

Directions: Cut interfacing and orange fabrin into 18" square. Iron together,. cut two pieces of Halloween print fabric and two pieces of fusicble webbing into 9" square. Iron webbin onto fabric.  Position print squares onto orance squares. Xut three black ribbons to create  hooks for hangers. Affix with white glue along with Halloween themed buttons.

Second Project:

Witch Candy Holder:
Items needed:

Old cookie holder (round tin) , pen, black self adhesive craft foam. scissors, 1/2 yd black satin fabric, 1/2 yd Halloween Wire edged ribbon, glue gun & glue sticks. halloween candy.

For this project I have my old danish cookie tins, that I'm going to wrap.  Place the tin lid on the self adhesive black craft foam. Trace around the outside of lid with pen.

With the scissors, cut out the black foam circle. cut a pieve of black satin at the same time.

Apply the black satin circle to the adhesive side of the black foam circle.

Next cut out the top of the witch's hat: cut a half circle of black foam and satin & apply the satin to adhesive foam. Form into a cone. Use hot glue gun to rin a small bead of glue along inside seam to secure cone sides together.

Now affix the cone to the hat base,

Then add the ribbon along the base. Using the hot glue gun to help secure it. Now toss in candy and leave on a table!!

Viola!!!! You have a pretty witch hat candy holder, you can also line the inner tin with some light parchment to protect the candy.

My Kitchen Altar, decorated for Samhain:

I have scented pine cone, two ear of Indian multicolored corn, a leaf plate that I made, two harvest pillars.  A bowl for offerings, and my room scent diffuser. It's on my kitchen wall & looks out over the whole kitchen!!!

31 Days of Samhain: Day 11: Paranormal Telly

Welcome back to Paranormal Telly. this month is of course one of the best months for fun paranormal movies, shows, and commercials.  I'm doing some highlighting of other shows as well as the big reveal of a new movie.

For those of those who have been waiting for fall shows to come back, here is the line up so far of shows thar have returned:
Supernatural (review)

Sam & Dean are back!!! Yes ladies and gents, the Winchester brothers are backing kicking the strange and cleaning up the weird.

Haven (review)

Warehouse 13 is also back. (review) This new season is bringing some serious;y fun. funny and nerdy storylines. I'm still in love with the Warehouse crew and think you should Snag, bag and Tag a copy of the previous seasons and catch up.

Once Upon a Time  (review) premiered last week and boy oh boy they haven't lost any of the sparkle or fairy tale flare.

Grimm of course is also back and bringing some seriously good story lines. See my review

For the Kids:

There is of course, ABCs 13 Nights of Halloween which will launch with the great movies classics: They will be sharing all the Harry Potter films which actually start on the 18th of this month. While the 13 nights programming officially starts on the 19th of October & runs until Halloween. (Some of these shows will be pretty scary, so please be aware of the time, as the movies intended for older audiences come on later)

Disney channel also has a great kid friendly line up. The Monstober schedule includes some classic movies, cartoons & the Halloween versions of most of their shows.

Shows Returning Soon:
The new season in the Walking Dead series will premiere in two weeks!!! I can't wait to see how they will survive another season. Can you??

On October 27th tune you tvs to the Hallmark channel for the new installment in the Good Witch Series: The Good Witch's Charm!!!!

It of course will begin with the original movies playing first then the new movie at 9pm (est).

This weeks share is one of my fave fall recipes, this actually a re-post, so if you have seen it before, yes I know but i lurrrve this recipe and make it often in the fall. It just hits the right spot.

Lentil Stew:

I talk about this recipe all the time. Its one of the first things I blogged about. Actually it was my first post. This is an easy amazing meal to have and it can be stored in the freezer and taken out to eat fairly easily.Here are the recipes which can be found in Tosca Reno's The Eat Clean Diet Cookbook (The Moroccan chicken can be found on page 150 and Lentil stew is page 159)

Lentil stew stats per servings:

• calories  40
• calories from fat: 28
• protein: 11g
• dietary fiber: 13g
• sodium: 164mg
• carbs: 42g
• sugars: 4g

Please note: this meal makes 6 servings, takes 10mins to prep, and 1 hr to cook

Ingredients:
1 cup/ 240 ml puy lentils
1 lagre onion
4 cloves garlic
1 tbsp/15 ml avocado or EVOO
2 ribs celery diced
4 bay leaves
2 large carrots chopped
1/2 cup/125 ml wheat berries or wild rice
1 tbsp/15ml brown rice miso
1/2 tsp/2.5 ml dried thyme
sea salt and pepper
low sodium chicken stock/ or veg stock or plain water

31 Days of Samhain: Day 4

Well it's day 4 of the 31 Days of Samhain.  Today's post is for those who are looking for some Samhain outfits, these are for kiddies, but it won't take much more time to make them into adult versions.  Now personally I'm not much of a fan of the mass made outfits, if only because when you get tot eh party several people could be wearing your outfit. Not at all Cool. Most years I make up what I'm wearing, then i got this and I thoguht hmmm why not share and ask the readers what they are doing for Samhain.

This is the cute detective outfit, I loved it. If I didn't already have an outfit picked out I would do this.

For the last few years, i have gone as a Witch Doctor.  I wore an awesome witch's hat, my scrubs from school, a broom and my name tag which was "Dr. Shrinks Heads", until a guy made a really rude remark I preceded to retire that outfit.

Last year I was a Dryad (a tree spirit), I have locs, so I made my locs stick out with pipe cleaners to make branches. I'm already brown, so that makes it easy for me since I didn't have to use any make-up.  I used  skin tone tights and wore a crown of oak leaves. I made a brown dress with leaves and 'shadows' scattered across it. I made it look like a trees trunk. Only the witches and the nerds got my reference, everyone else thought I was a tree or an Ent from Lord of the Rings.  I found this awesome photo and website that appears to be selling the outfit, so click and check it out.

This year I think I'm going to be the Goddess Medusa. I'll show pics, when I'm done making it.
