Pardon My Dust

Hi My loves, this weekend I am working on the blog, so if each time you swing by something seems to have changed, It isn't you, I am updating, changing adding and deleting. Basically I'm no longer in love with the look of the blog and I am working on it from behind the scenes. I have an image in my head of what I want and I am doing the best to get it that way.

So please Pardon the dust, and give me this weekend. I am attempting to get to the whole blog looking awesome and won't be posting as much as I am supposed to. I am participating in the Blogiesta event and will be in the twitter party so swing back over and tell me what you think when the big 'reveal' comes on Monday!!!

Happy Weekend

I officially hate the new interface

I;m not sure why these people felt the need to upgrade and screw up a good thing. But I now officially hate the new blogger interface. Everything is different and the more I attempt to customize my blog the more it fights me and undoes everything I'm doing I just fucking can't with this shyt anymore. I'm so done for the weekend. I'm sorry folks there won't be any new posts this weekend, Because I refuse to keep loading my blog over and over again for Blogger to just undo all the customization,

Every time I go to layout to change one thing, I go back to the blog and all my texts have been changed and my background image won't show. I'm too annoyed so, the blog will look like this until Monday when I feel like dealing with Google's newest snafu of a website.

Tata for now
Happy Mabon

ARC Book Review: Mark of the Witch

Book Title: Mark of the Witch (Goodreads/ Amazon)
Author: Maggie Shayne (author's website)
Publisher: Harlequin Mira
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Cost: $7.99
Pages: 352
Due Out: Septenber 18, 2012
How I got it: Book Expo America 2012
My Rating:★★★★★
Erotica Rating: ★★★★★
Synopsis:
A lapsed Wiccan, Indira Simon doesn't believe in magic anymore. But when strange dreams of being sacrificed to an ancient Babylonian god have her waking up with real rope burns on her wrists, she's forced to acknowledge that she may have been too hasty in her rejection of the unknown. Then she meets mysterious and handsome Father Tomas. Emerging from the secrecy of an obscure Gnostic sect, he arrives with stories of a demon, a trio of warrior witches-and Indira's sacred calling. Yet there's something even Tomas doesn't know, an inescapable truth that will force him to choose between saving the life of the woman he's come to love-and saving the world.

My Review:
This book was everything awesome. It's a bewitching read, by a witching author (hahahha see what I did there?? Yeah okay I'll stop nerding out)  I didn't know until I say the preview for Legacy of a Witch what it was about. Maggie is an author I automatically pick up. I had the awesome pleasure of meeting her at the Harlequin book Signing at BEA:
Can I just say she was awesome?!?!? Friendly, warm and willing to sign an older copy of a book I had that she had written years ago. How cool was that??  Well, anyway, I picked up the book because it's by her and she is awesome, and in this book she has written did not disappoint.

The book has long lost loves, romance, witches, ancient history, reincarnation, and of course a kick ass heroine and a slightly dented hero. I loved the story line and how well it flowed, the heroine wasn't an idiot and she fought like hell to hang onto her idea of herself, but when faced with no other choice she embraced it. A lapsed Wiccan??! Why yes I can see why she would end up that way, her reasoning and reasons for leaving the Craft are actually pretty familiar, which made me love her even more, I could understand why she did, and even the transformation she would eventually have to go through.

I loved that Maggie knows what she is talking about when writing these book; after all she is a witch too, she doesn't make ti too out of the realm of possibility but she doesn't make it mundane either. And the struggle of Tomas?? All too real.  I also loved when Rayne would call Indy out on her bigotry while pointing out the good of all faiths. It was refreshing and wonderfully written.  The magick within the story was so amazing to read, the lore, the background of the story, was all well placed and setup beautifully by the novella Legacy of the Witch.  This book was enchanting and gripping right from the beginning. I knew some of the things that were going to happen only because I have a suspicious mind and really tried my best to guess, sometimes I was right. a few times I was wrong.  I loved that it was it's own story whole laying out the rest of the series, and of course the main story. (because i know I'm not the only one who notices, now that a lot of authors cut the story off just so you will read the others O_O)

Now, I know I gave it five erotica stars and that has more to do with the love scenes than an actual making love scene, although that one was sweet as well. See I love the buildup the romance of it all and this one had it in spades, the couple just felt pulled together and their kisses alone were hot hot hot. it's not your typical romance, nor is it a hide it from your mama erotica, but it's still singe worthy. Their love is awesome and I can't wait to find out more about other sisters and about Demetrius. It was fun, it was funny it was enchanting and i loved every second of reading it. makes me wish I had the other two stories to read right away.

This is shaping up to be an awesome series. I can't wait until December when the next one is released.
This is a burn rubber to get it, finish it a few hours book, yeah I skipped all the chores today, just so I could finish it.

Happy Reading my loves

Erotica Book Review: Finding Anna # 2: Need

Book Title: Finding Anna # 2: Need (Goodreads/ Amazon)
Author: Sherri Hayes
Publisher: Smith Publicity --The Writer’s Coffee Shop
Format: Ebook
Cost: $8.49
Pages: 231
How I got it: NetGalley
My Rating:★★★☆☆
Erotica Rating:★★★☆☆
Synopsis:
As Brianna comes to terms with the realization that she is no longer a slave, she must figure out what she wants for her life. Forgetting her past isn’t an option. It is an integral part of who she is now, and it will forever shape her view of life. The one thing she knows is that she cannot imagine her life without the man who saved her, but can she be what he needs?
Stephan never imagined falling in love with the woman he rescued, but the thought of her no longer being part of his life is physically painful. The scars from her past continue to haunt her, and he is helpless to stop them. All he can do is try to help her work through the traumas of her past. Can he be everything she needs and help her move on?
The two must figure out how to navigate not only their relationship with each other, but also the outside world. A friend from Brianna’s past shows up where she least expects them, and Uncle Richard continues to enforce his well-meaning agenda to get Brianna more traditional help. As forces, both friend and foe, threaten to tear them apart, Stephan and Brianna have to navigate the turbulent waters and find what they need in each other.

My Review:

I have to gather my thoughts on this book. Clearly there is a book before it, and I need to read it, and now there is a book after that I have to read to get some serious answers. This is one of the first times I have actually read a book and thought to myself "hell I should have read the first one". Most times the author writes the book so there is a chance for you to know the story without feeling like you missed out. In this instance you can read the book, but you won't really get some of the references or the true real reason why Briana is the way she is.

I wasn't sure how to feel about the book for a while, as it was hard to get into the characters beyond feeling extremely sorry for Briana.  I do get why the Uncle thinks Briana needs help, it does kind of smack of Stockholm Syndrome that she is relying on him so much and not seeking help.  She has been free for only two months and she hasn't known anything but violence; so the little piece of happiness she does have she is going to cling to.  I think Stephan needs to let her seek help from someone who knows about the BDSM lifestyle and knows how this can work to aide her in getting over her past. There are psychologist who are alternative lifestyle friendly, so he should look into that(I'm saying this like he's a real person, but I mean that the author should maybe setup the next scenario as him adding this into his little back of tricks).

I like that the author shows how BDSM can help people heal, and the difference between abuse and true BDSM relationship.  I did love the characters though, I loved that the author use simple bare writing to carry the tale, instead of giving details that we wouldn't need.  For a man of only 24, Stephan seems to have it all together, it wasn't until I was reading someone else's review that I found out that Briana was only 18, which makes her story kind of both heartbreaking and sad, considering how she ended up where she did.

I'm not sure how to feel about their relationship developing so soon after her rescue, it makes me wonder how much of it is her trying to stay safe, or how much of it is truly her being happy to be there.  Everything that happens seems to point to her being a natural submissive, and then you think about how she was 'trained' and you have to wonder if it isn't just that training coming through.  His punishment for her transgression was pretty fair, considering it wasn't until the end of the punishment that she got the message; which I thought was pretty funny. I'm trying to understand how no one thought that it was wrong that she was under aged and being used that way, then of course I woke up and remembered what world we live in.  There really wasn't a lot of full on sex, which doesn't make this a true 'erotica'.  She handled the scenario well, evoking some serious emotions for the characters and their plight and really left in a place where I was like. "Where is the next one" Sadly rumor has it that it doesn't come out until summer 2013. BOOOO!!

It's a pretty good read, well written, flows well. Characters are fully fleshed out, although it's taking a little while to know Briana.  I'm off to get the other book to read so I can catch up on their story. Happy reading & Be blessed.

KWW: Green Cleaning

Well it's another fabulous week of Kitchin Witchin, part of teh KWW Blog Party. I know...I know, I haven't done one of these in a while. I'm slowly getting back to way things need to be, you know more than just book reviews & challenge information.

Here are some awesome ways to use herbs in the kitchen these are all from The Complete Book of Herbs by Leslie Bremness.
To make potpourri simply combine the ingredients in a bowl, you can add essential oils that match the ingredients, you should set it aside for a cool dark place for six weeks for it to "cure". Place in clear glass bowls or bowls that match the theme of the potpourri.
from Bing.com
Kitchen Potpourri: to help cleanse the scents of cooking.

  • 4 pts lemon verbena
  • 2 pts mints
  • 2 pts bay leaves
  • 1 pt tansy leaves & flowers
  • 1 pt lovage
  • a few crushed cloves & orris root
This actually smells amazing, mine looks a little worse for wear, so I didn't take a pic of mine.

Drain Cleaner: I used this just two days ago, the drain no longer smells and it drains beautifully.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Scented baking soda (I made mine with lemon essential oil)
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 2 cups boiling water or hottest water
Pour the baking soda & salt down the drain leave for five minutes.  Add the vinegar and cover with a wet rag, let it sit for about 10 minutes.  Pour the boiling water down the drain. Your drain should smell amazing and work like a charm.

Well that's my list of cleaning supplies for the week. Have fun my loves and I will see you again next week, why yes, I will be posting as regular as possible again.
Thanks for coming back and reading & share your KWW links in the posts.

11 years in

and this day still hurts like heck. Today is the 11th year since September 11th, 2001
I'm sure we all remember where we were and what we were doing on this day nine years ago. It will forever be burned into the psyche of many an American. Watching the news that morning hurting for the people inside and for the survivors, this is a day we will never forget.

So take a moment today and remember all 2,996 killed on this day. The brave firefighters and first responders who went in burning buildings;remember the brave passengers on Flight 93, who fought back rather than allow the fourth plane to reach its destination.

Lets please remember their families, please keep them in your hearts and prayers.  At 8:46 am today take a moment to honor those who have died.
Flight 93 Memorial
Alan Jackson sang this song and it was the most amazing song because it takes so much of what we feel and gives it words. Take a listen, "where were you when the world stopped turning?", shed a few tears, let it all out.
And then go on, make your life a good one, give back as much as you can, but never forget those who became heroes, on that September day. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down ones life for his friends {country}
Always remembering

Monday Confusion:

It's Monday, the day before Sept 11th and I'm not even sure what I should be feeling. It's been eleven years this year.  Have we healed?? Have people moved on or are we still carrying it with us. I mean I know I will never forget, but there is a bit of numbness involved when I think of that day. I feel lost whenever I have to think of Sept 11th as just a regular day, I don't want to forget the people that died but I really don't want to carry this sadness around anymore.

It's the beginning of another week and I have much to look forward to. Like this friday I get my new kindle fire (the new one they have debuting that day). i'm going to the gym tonight, my shows are showing tonight as well. It's a good day to be alive and happy and I think I feel kind of guilty for that considering what tomorrow is. I'm feeling confused and conflicted I don't know.

I think some of it also has to do with the fact that this is the first time in a very long time that I'm not taking classes. I haven't quit I just have to take a hiatus and I'm not liking it.It's fall my favorite season I can smell the pumpkin spiced incense already, I can't wait to watch leaves turn and walk during a rainy fall evening around my favorite city (Salem, MA). Even with those anticipatory feelings, there is something missing.

What are you plans for the week?? Are you guys/gals excited about Fall??How do you guys feel about tomorrow?? Share in the comments please.

Happy Monday and Have a blessed week

Paranormal Telly: Revolution

Show: Revolution
Seasons: 1
Run Time: 40 mins
Air Dates & Time: NBC
Reruns can be seen; Hulu Plus, NBC

Trailer:

My Review:
Okay this show isn't really paranormal, but it is a dystiopian new world. The premise sounded great and when I saw you could watch the premiere before the show aired on HULU. I was all for it.
About half way into the first five minutes I was arguing with my computer. Yelling at the screen, this show hmmm how to say this politely .."yeah this show is stupid".. I know. I know, so many shows that I watch have idiotic premises or things going on, but generally it's tongue in cheek stupid, letting you know, they know that this isn't the way it works. Syfy's Eureka was all about that and I loved that show. I'm not sure what the producers were thinking for this one,  but I have questions:
  1. what happened to all the lights, I mean ALL the lights??? We aren't all connected to the grid so how did the ALL the power in the WHOLE world just get cut off???
  2. Ummm... you do know that with nuclear power, without there being lights and power to keep the nuclear reactors cool, they have what's called the Chernobyl accident?? No, no?!?! this doesn't exist in your world..Oh okay thanks.  Your telling me EVERY single nuclear reactor went offline and didn't take out the world with it??? In 15 years no one has seen a melt down. With the amount of reactors France alone has; that meltdown should have cleaned half of Europe off the map. No?!! Why??
  3. Ummm how about the car and highway scene, how did every single car on that highway shut down?? What your telling me is that on that American highway, there wasn't one person driving an American old school mustang??? Not a one??? There wasn't someone who was restoring an old car with a rebuilt turbo charged engine?? No one in an Impala, or a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T with a Hemi engine??(can you tell that is my favorite car??) No not even one?? Yeah I don't buy it, I see these cars all the time in my neck of the woods, and your telling me on a highway near a military base not one of them is a classic car junkie???
  4. How comes everything shut off?? Planes don't run on electric cords plugged into a socket, do I don't buy that they all of a sudden fell out of the sky. My laptop and phone are charged to full all the time, how comes they all of a sudden don't have a have a charge anymore?? My phone has a solar panel charger, I get that the power grid is down so things like the internet won't be working, but my own individual phone??
  5. What happened to the wind turbines?? The Solar Panels?? Did Sun Valley just disappear off the map? How about the Coal firing plants?? They all lose power too?? WHY??
  6. Was there a cataclysmic event that sucked all the electricity out of the world??? You do know that means we should all be dead right?? Because human beings are electric/kinetic energy, it's the impulse that makes your heart beat and your brain keep firing. So I'm not sure how the heck you plan to explain or even why this went down, but ummm NO
  7. Where is the military?? Your telling me the government that has backups of the backups of the backups, don't have a backup generator?? Isn't the White House on it's own power grid for just this reason??
  8. Did no one study science before this happened?? No one knows how to create gaslights??
After I sat and watched, and restarted it and watched again, just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I kept waiting for that girl to start saying "ohana means family" because she is just that clueless. There is a scene in the show where she meets a hot young man and then without knowing him from Adam's house cat invites him along on her journey. In a world where people have descended back into the dark ages apparently and marauders and prisoners roam free. WHO DOES THAT.

I don't know about the rest of y'all but the science questions alone have turned me off from this show, then of course there is the societal construct ideas of what would happen if the modern world collapsed. It only took 15 years according to this show for the feudal system to come back and for everyone to start learning to farm from hollowed out cars.  Where did they get sheep in a small town outside of Chicago??   Okay I'll stop asking questions now; but I will say this. I'm a Discovery channel fanatic, I read and research and study up on things like this especially after Hurricane Katrina showed us how quickly the societal rules and constraints would be cast aside.  Discovery has had several shows first with "The World without Us' then a show dealing with what would happen to the modern world if a true epidemic broke out. they showed how long ti would take for the rules to get thrown out the window  which sadly wasn't that long; and how it affected everything from the bottom up to the top. These producers should have watched these shows, because according to the scientist they're a little off.

I told a friend on facebook that the show is an okay show if you didn't think too hard about all the open questions and he said "if I have to shut down my brain to watch it I'm not watching" (he's a science teacher). If you want to watch without thinking too hard the show is okay, nothing new and out of the box, but entertaining none the less.  I might watch the second episode to see if they got better it all depends, I have my shows all lined up already, if this doesn't interfere than yeah I might watch it.

Watch and let me know what you thought of the premiere in the comments please. Any shows your looking forward to?? I can't wait until Haven comes back on Sept 21. Woohoo.
Many Blessings...

My Review:

I have known Veronika for a few years now, and when I saw she had a book coming out I just knew I had to get a hold of it. The Nika I know is a fun loving, warm and positively charmed woman so I just knew if she was sharing more on how she got that way then I needed it.

The book gives us a few ways in which to use itm you meditate on the affirmations, write them out and stick all over your home (one of the qoutes is now firmly affixed to my bathroom mirror), write them in your journal and explore what each belief means to you. I loved that she gave us a few more ways other than the known methods as a way to learn and gain from these affirmations.

There are 150 as stated in the book title which range from dealing with Karma, to accepting your past to sending love to oneself and to the world. I enjoyed reading them and getting more out of them by journaling with them, which is one of the many tools she discussed using.

It's a fast fun read, I read through it then went back and used ones I liked, You can use one a day for the next few months of the year, or you can use one to mediate on for as long as needed. It's a book well worth the time and efforts. Love it!!
