Synopsis:

The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the Edwardian and post-Edwardian era — with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy. Such events depicted throughout the series include news of the sinking of the RMS Titanic in the first series; the outbreak of World War I, the Spanish influenza pandemic, and the Marconi scandal in the second series; and the Interwar period and the formation of the Irish Free State in the third series.
My Review:
I absolutely love this show. It's amazingly good, very true to the history of the times & shows the evolution of women's roles and lives & rights in the last few centuries.    I fell in love with this show because I'm a historical novel fanatic.  And this show has got it in spades, the different views of each 'set' of people, the upstairs/downstairs interaction is just amazing.

The romances, the different views of society, especially when one considers that I'm positively obsessed with historicals  the Tons & this kind of tale (even though I wouldn't exactly be above the stairs but more the below stairs).  I love the women in the show, especially the Dowager Duchess who is of course Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter.  The characters are well written, complicated, vindictive, funny, possess dry wit. It's a nerdy girl's delight, to watch and imagine oneself there.

The Show returns of Sunday on PBS & on HULU.com on Monday.
