UberFail

On Why I contemplated boycotting Amazon. O_O Two days ago in my Blogger posts view I saw a notice about something serious.  Please take the moment to read it then come back.
I love amazon, I'm a big supporter of what they were doing, but after reading that and following the link to Fox news, (now normally I wouldn't listen to anything Fox has to say but this was more important than politics) of course I also researched it myself, I went onto amazon and typed in the name and sure enough there it is.
Now I want to know what editor sat down and really read this book and thought " Oh yes this is a market that's not being explored lets publish this book??". If this is a self published book  then I'm thinking the police need to start looking into the author's life.
This isn't a freedom of speech moment like Amazon was trying to say, this is a book that promotes the destruction of lives. The hurting of our must precious resource and they want to say that this is censorship??? I call BULLSHIT. Anyone, who thinks that this author has the write to create a book that promotes this needs to take a good look at their own lives. I hope to the Gods you don't have kids because this isn't the moment to get all high and mighty about protecting speech, this is the moment to PROTECT our Kids. They matter not some pedophiles right to purchase a book about how to choose victims.
If this was a book about any other subject I would be inclined to say to each his/her own but not this. I have gone onto my account and taken down any lists(wish list, and such) emptied my shopping cart and pretty much deaded my account.  It will be a long time before I will purchase from them because they need to know this is NOT kosher by any stretch of the imagination.
As if by serendipity two shows on Oprah has been dedicated to speaking to the male victims of sexual abuse and assault. You can watch episode 1 here on Oprah.com. Please be aware that the show is explicit and very emotional.
(if your an empath it's best to ward yourself first otherwise, your in for a lot of crying and pain)

What is happening in out world? How can we protect our children when there are people out there determined to take them from us? To destroy their innocence?
This is a uberfail for amazon, & for the publisher . it is also a teaching moment

Blessed Be

  1. I'm just gonna tell all parents out there to follow the link provided in your blog. I'm not going to comment on the book itself because I'm not giving that book a hair's strand of publicity.

  2. @ MsLilypads which is why I didn't link to it or even mention it's name, yes the more people who know the more Amazon will realize that their customers are always right.
    Thank you

  3. I don't even have to follow the link, I heard about this yesterday too. I agree with you, this isn't a 'free speech' issue...it is a protect our children issue.

  4. @Sophiadawn which is why they get the Fail, because they didn't seem to get that. They were more worried about making money than what the contents of the book was advocating.

  5. I went and looked up the exact wording of the 1st Amendment...."Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

It says the government shall make no laws limiting the freedom of speech. It doesn't say free speech is PROTECTED either, that those who deny someone a platform will be prosecuted. It's my belief that the government of the time was more concerned with religious and political freedoms and wanted to guarantee those. They probably couldn't have imagined a society that would be in need of laws to say what's totally vile and innappropriate. At the least, I'm sure they would have been intelligent enough to exercise common sense had they been faced with something like this. And that is what Amazon should have done.

A great post. I've been wanting either a Nook or a Kindle....I've just made up my mind which one to get.

  6. @ Stacey Lynn Thanks so much for writing your comment, I meant to address their "freedom of speech" excuse.O_o
When i put this on my FB page i made that point in the comment section. Because last time I checked being a big business was the same as being the Congress. Yes and common sense was all they needed, all they had to say, is "Oops, we're not sure how this slipped into our stocks, sorry it's gone" but to protest the fact that your wrong??? Yeah No! But like my Grandma used to say "Common sense ain't so common"
Congrats on getting your new ebook reader;P
