Bear With Me through these Changes:

Hi My loves

long time no post. Well life has done it's best to kick my ass the past few months so the few posts you have seen have been so scattered and crazy.  I'm back now more and will be doing better blogging I swear.  One of the changes taking place on the blog will be the transitioning of all book reviews from the blog to my new book blog Bewitching Bibliophile.

There are several reasons for the move of the book reviews, one of them being this blog was originally created as a safe place to vent about being a pagan woman in America, and I kind of let it slip away from that, for my loyal readers who simply skipped those posts thank you for still reading and coming back every day,  for my new readers who are here only for the book reviews, I will post on Tuesdays the link to every new review on the second blog, just click and swing on over to that one.

Pardon the dust on both blogs and I tweak and play with the design of the blogs, I will be attempting to keep them simple and easy to navigate.

Thank You my loves for bearing with me while my posts have kind of dried up, I have then written I just haven't had the time or true desire to sit down and post and interact I will share more on that later.

Make sure to swing on over to the new blog for reviews, books and movie recommendations, of course all from the pagan perspective.!!

Have a blessed day

Small Hiatus

Hi my loves, sorry for no post yesterday, there isn't going to be a Paranormal Telly today and no post tomorrow either. My schedule at work has changed and my normal days off are gone due to someone walking off the job. Now I don't mind the re arranged schedule but it's taking some getting used to. I loved have my two days off to write and read and do chores, my office is looking a wreck right now due to no cleaning time. Well that's why I haven't had a chance to sit down and do some real serious blog posts, other  a few here and there and of course the books!!!   On Saturday I will do the drawing for a copy of Elemental, so you have a few extra days to sign up!!!

Happy Reading & Good Luck to everyone who entered the giveaway

Also Welcome to any new subscribers  it's always fun to see new faces, make sure to comment and leave any ideas for posts you would love to see.

Weekend Recap

This weekend I participated in the Blogiesta event.
As you can see the blog has been spruced up a bit, changed for the Spring and even neaten up quite a bit. things have changed behind the scenes too. But here are some of the most notable items you will see, I now have the social media button I love so much when i go to other blogs, I can't tell you how frustrating they were to work out but they look awesome!!  My original list for the blog even can be found here. Even though the party is over, I'm going to finsih my list by the end of this week. So just pardon the dust please.

In other news : For the month of march I set the goal of reading 20 books, I didn't meet that goal, I did pretty well considering I kinda started late in the month, you can see the stats below. You can see the original list here:
Goal for the Month: 15 Books  Left:  9    Completed: 6  Bonus: 1/6
Advanced Review Book List:
  • Alls Fair in Vanities War ~ Elizabeth Marx 3/25
  • Simple Secrets to a happy life ~ Luci Swindell 3/30
  • House of Saint's ~ A.C. Mason 3/28
  • Enchanted ~ Josee' Renard 3/22
My Own Review:
  • Celebrity in Death ~ JD Robb 3/25
  • The Best of Me ~ Nicholas Sparks 3/23
Bonus:
  • Keeper of the Spirit ~ Ruby Storm 3/22

I have updated this list for April and you can follow along with me there(it's actually linked above). I  have also created a easily search able list of all my IMM books so you can see the progress.

I recently realised that I have once again begun to procrastinate when it comes to my Bucket List. I haven't really done anything on it since the holidays. With spring and summer coming it's going to be an awesome time to accomplish many of the items that are local. I'm looking forward to knocking a few off the list but I won't tell you about those until they have happened (nothing the trickster Anansi loves more than to muck up good plans, so let's not tempt him).

Funniest thing happened at work yesterday, one of the guys I know was being himself, whenever he walks into the room you can't help but know he's there, he's loud with a deep booming voice and looks like the linebacker he used to be (a big man, but fit). Under my breath I muttered he reminded me of a certain god, loud, boisterous, much like the thunder He is lord over. Didn't realise he could hear me ( I swear all the noise on the floor dropped long enough for me to be heard) and not only wasn't he offended, he GOT the reference, it turns out he is a devotee of the Orisha Shango. I almost fell over, first of all it wasn't the first time it popped into my head that he was very much like this God, and second I hadn't meant to say anything it just came popping out. We had a pretty interesting conversation throughout the day, but it was awesome knowing another pagan worked with me.

I seem to be having more of these lately, the feeling or sensing the presence of Otherwordly beings or Gods.  I have even had some seriously vivid dreams, and wake up remembering them all clearly. I don't know if it's the blooming of spring or if I'm just linking up with my new town, but I'm finally beginning to feel at home.  I love my apartment because it feels happy here, lots of good energy and this kind of energy takes years to build up; I can feel it in the walls, and it makes calling circle seriously amazingly powerful.

I believe I can finally say I'm happy here. Right where I am, I'm happy. ( crap now I've given the Gods a target)
Be Blessed today and May all your happiness be found within.

It's 2012 and the same old shyt just a different year...

Yesterday Mrs. B posted a link to a website (which I will not be linking to, no need to give the site unnecessary traffic) that had pirated books on their pages.  I'm a ebook fanatic, but come on, ebooks are way cheaper than the actual book, why steal it when you can pay a discounted price on Barnes and Noble or Amazon? They eventually took it down; after they had been contacted by several of the authors who wrote about it on Mrs.B's page, as well as someone from Llewellyn. I know I know so many people have issues with some of their books, but consider that for many many years they were the only ones publishing ANY books, other than authors or obscure hard to find college publishing companies, without Llewellyn, many of the companies that have come along wouldn't be there, and MANY of the authors who are out NOW wouldn't have had any books to read that sparked their interest which made them eventually write their own, so hate all you want, but they are necessary.
In response, Mrs. B formed an awesome group idea, you can find out more about it here. It has always been my policy of purchase two books and donate one tot he library, but I noticed that those books disappear fairly quickly, which goes back to people stealing because they don't want others to learn about the stuff, or people hanging on to it because they can't afford to purchase their own and want this copy. But I like Mrs. B's idea.

This week I personally was faced with the over sharing that takes place on the Internet; when I watched a video by a young woman who had pledged to my sorority then 'found God' (nothing wrong with that, grow, change embrace your faith), and made it her decision to SHARE all of our initiation rituals, pledging secrets and things only sorors should know on the fracking internet, because to her our organisation encouraged "pagan and idol worship because some our symbols are from the Greek mythology", O_o it's a GREEK sorority, of course we are going to have something Greek on our shield. She kept excusing her behaviour by saying she only owes God her word and not man, UMMM excuse me much, but these videos have shown your character, if you ever interview to work anywhere sensitive information your not getting that job. Why?? You don't know how to keep your mouth shut. You put your real name out there with these videos, you showed who you really are and you must deal with repercussions of this. Okay, you have decided you no longer agree with our policies and our traditions, turn in you pledge pin and go sit in a corner, no one needs to hear from you, there is no need to share all our information with those who haven't BUSTED THEIR ASSES TO EARN THE RIGHT TO KNOW!!! Pledging to any Greek Letter Organisation is a Privilege not a right!! As I watched the video I realised also she kept repeating that she owed no one anything, as if attempting to not just convince us, but herself, I could feel the disquiet that her actions caused her but she did them anyway, WHY? so you can say you  got back at the women you didn't get along with???  It's one thing if your faith has changed and you feel the need to speak up about something criminal or drastically wrong, but there are ways to do things that didn't include giving our information away. I just don't get it, You know what?? Whatever!!!

This incident was exasperated when out of curiosity I googled our ritual book and someone had posted the WHOLE fracking book online I mean really?? Do people not know what discretion is? Do people not understand that you have to earn the right to know our business? * Walking away before my blood pressure goes up*

This morning my sister went to our car which we parked only a few cars down from our normal spot and there was a hanger stuck inside the door, some Crackheaded fiend ( don't really know if they were on crack or not, but only a goddamn thief would pick my car, it's not the oldest car, nor is it the nicest, not sure why they choose my car) was attempting to steal our car, i was never so happy to have an old Toyota than I was at that moment because they couldn't use the hanger to pull up the lock, so they abandoned the project. Le Huge Sigh. I live next to Yale University, arguably one of the best colleges in the United States if not the World, I live on a quite street of older well maintained homes with lots of families and our condo building, it's not the 'ghetto' or even close, yet this came to our "nice" neighbourhood.  I don't know why I am surprised they opened a Apple store a few weeks ago, only two blocks away from me, and right next to the Yale Bookstore, and on it's first night they were robbed. I mean really?? And then people wonder why they can't have nice things? It's because of bullshyt moves like this.

The one highlight of my week? This is my YT buddy Fran, she makes awesome Loc videos, she also makes awesome, hilarious, poignant & socially relevant videos, this one?? Hits the nail on the head, and has blown up all over the place. I love it!!!

And with that here endeth, my first week of the New Year
YAYAY!! ( oh frack it I'm outta here for today, I also know there are probably a million and one (hyperbole I know) punctuation violations in this post, as well as linguistic errors, it is a rant, not my thesis)

Why I hate when computers crash

because no matter how good a little witch backs up her computer the fail always takes place before the next back up which means any new pertinent photos, blog post, addresses, passwords, and projects gets erased before they could be saved.

I hate THAT, I had thousands of pictures that i had recently taken, of books, my old home, my move, two kids birthday parties, a shower for a new bride, a wedding, a receptions, preps for the hurricane irene and the damage, all gone. Everything I have including all my stuff which i set up for this blog all wiped, gone Nada, Zilch, music EVERYTHING, can I freaking say how much that shyt sucks donkey balls???

Yes I threw my English out the window on this little rant, but thems the breaks Le Sigh!!!

Friday Follow-Up

Hi my loves
ohh how  I have missed you, so I got my computer back late last night and had a good cry too. because my harddrive was completely corrupted and they had to give me a new one, so all the recent things i had created on the computer and all the stuff I had saved were gone. I spent most of last night attempting to get some of my old backups added on to the computer.

I am so sorry i haven't posted in a while I have gotten caught up in my classes and it's a faster pace than last year and it just seems i have no time to myself anymore. Not that is an excuse but hey I didn't have a laptop I could use.

Today is Mabon and I'm going to celebrate in style in my new home, how are you going to celebrate?

My sister's birthday is this weekend and then next weekend is my best friends birthday weekend, I swear after that I will be back more often, ohhh this weekend is also the PRACTICAL MAGIC PARTY, have you checked out the page??? It's amazing the amount of people who will be participating this year, I can't wait to see everyone's post, I think I just finished it this year for last year's post, amazing the creativity of the participants, don't forget to leave a comment if you come through and make sure to enjoy yourself!!!

For contest winners, look out in the mail for your winning packages, i mailed those who gave me address off yesterday or is it today, oh Goddess I have no idea, but keep an eye out for the broom!! Your prizes are inside!!

I have been knocking this list out one by one, slowly but surely, many small things, but some big ones in the works as well so YAY!!
1) I got a library card, luckily in my state you can register your card in upto five towns around you, so since I'm living in New Haven, I also registered in Braford, and Hamden, I live five minutes away from the huge New Haven library right next to Yale and I love walking over there almost everyday to study, sometimes I study on the steps, sometimes i go inside, but this library is as amazing as the New York City Flagship library in Manhattan, I'll give you guys a tour in a little while.

2) I got a new job, i still have my old job, but now I have one close to home and really enjoy not having to travel all the time, I don't have to get up super early to get there it's only 10 mins away.

3)Obviously I have begun to study for my Fall classes, otherwise I wouldn't be knocking out the A's that I have been, woohooo!!

4)Who doesn't Love Ikea shopping trips?? I picked up a few necessary items for my new apartment at rock bottom prices and had the luxury of knowing many of them were recycled items or easily recyclable or even had a low impact to them. Gotta love Ikea

5)Before I moved I packed up some serious stuff to go to Goodwill, and donated them just before and after I moved, once i moved in & realized I no longer needed some items, I gave them to family, friends, my parents and then to Goodwill, best things in world are gently loved items!!

6)Lucky for me living near so many colleges I didn't have to purchase my med surg book, i simply borrowed it from the library, free and I get to return it for someone else to get it again later, zero waste!!

7) I checked out Borders before they closed, but didn't see anything I really had to have, I had hoped to get my NCLEX books from them but they didn't have the new ones and the test changed this year so I definitely need something published with the new improvements. I was saddened to see them go,because good bookstores are getting harder and harder to find, thankfully, Barnes and Nobles doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon and they will be taking over a lot of the abandoned Borders (at least that was the rumour on yahoo news)

I have been busily decorating my new apartment and have had up my Mabon theme for a while I'll put up my altar pics on the On Altar'd Space, my blog about altars.

If you haven't scrolled to the very very bottom of the blog recently you might have missed my new little logo, you can add it to your blog roll and in a little while I will be snagging yours as well, my facebook badge is also down there.

HAPPY MABON EVERYONE, and a Blessed Harvest to you all!!!

Let's Catch Up

Saturday and Sunday we had to deal with hurricane Irene, we lost power and discovered that my parents basement was now a swimming pool with 16 ins of water. those plastic bins that i love to store stuff in? yeah useless against water. I now kinda feel somewhat like those Katrina victims felt, watching your home and stuff go from being a normal safe place to being filled with water and there's nothing you can do to stop it. My freezer, brand new as in only a few weeks old washing machine floating, along with my Christmas tree now completely underwater, pictures, books, cloths stored for winter  all of it completely soak through, not to mention the boiler and the central system.  I have the posts for the winners already to go and will put it up as soon as i hear from FaerieSage.

school has been cancelled for the last few days and I start again thankfully on Thursday!!

Talk to you later folks later

Update:

I will be moving for the next few days, and will be without internet for those days until I get settled in (by Monday). School starts back up on the 29th so I will be doing up a lot of posts between now and then to help me get by when I have to go back on hiatus. This semester is going to be fierce, as I will be in clinical(s) for three full days (645-145) and theory for two days(745-230) cramming five courses in the two days. Crazy as hell, I know I can't wait!!!

If you haven't seen the side bar lately I have decided to join the Practical Magic Blog Party, being hosted by Frosted Petunias much as I did last year, I loved doing it and will be having a blast on September 24 again this year!! So be on the look out for that, click on the link if you wish to join. Or swing on by the other bloggers who will be having fun on the 24th.

If you haven't scrolled to the bottom of the page lately you might have missed the new page badge, you can now grab my code and put it on your blogroll, how cool is that? My facebook badge is also listed below.

have fun and blessed be see you on Monday!!

Updates and Progress

Bonjour my loves

Some of you may have noticed the improvements taking place around the blog. I have included two new tabs which carry their posts linked within.  These are Book Reviews, and Recipes, I have done this because it makes it easier for these posts to be found with less work for you.

I will also be adding some posts that I made but never really posted because I had to do some more work on them, now that i have time I will be posting them. So be on the look out for tons of new posts appearing in your timeline soon. There will be some changes to the design and many of the posts, as I get the blog to the way I wish to have it from now on, so please pardon the dust.

There are a lot of big changes taking place in my life and I needed the time away to get them all together before I could really concentrate on the blog. I have so many ideas and drafts to complete and share with you. I have been attempting to catch up on so many of your posts and boy oh boy it seems we are all running into the same issues with family.

Congrats to all those who are moving out and moving on to better homes and their dream farms.
Be Blessed

Back to Basics

Hey guys

I know i haven't written in a while, well school is finished and I have been catching up on sleep and Buffy and Angel series (yes I know they are off the air but I never watched them when they were on the air and now I know what the hype was about the shows are fantastic and funny as all get out).

I realized recently that I had an issue with my blog, i wasn't really liking ti as much as I used to, so I'm going back to basics.  Yes I know, a Halloween theme is too stereotypical, but I really really loved it, and it was what I had when I first started the blog.  Now I have tried a lot of different themes and blog headers but I think the basic signature should remain the same, just look at all the really well written and loved blogs that we all subscribe to. Doing all those changes made me realize I was searching to 'create' the perfect theme, when I had a great basic theme that was all 'me', i don't want to write my blog hoping to get responses, I wish to write and be about what is happening to me, what is important to me, not to search out and be someone else's version of what my blog should be, so no more seeking, I may change some things based on season, but for the most part I wish to focus not on how the blog looks but on the blog contents, and what is really important.

What I'm trying to say is instead of ignoring my blog I'm making it the blog I originally had, the one I really enjoyed writing on, and talking about what was important to me, and about what I knew.  I'm cleaning up the blog a bit, dropping some topics, and picking up new ones. I know that means some will wish to leave and I may even get an nasty comment or two, but I originally wrote this blog as a way to get stuff off my chest and to even explore my craft (all of my craft, not just my faith, but the things I created) and I wish to go back to that.

So hopefully you'll stick around for the upcoming improvements and changes and share with me my journey. If we should part here, then have a Happy and Blessed journey.

Merry Meet and Merry Part
until we Merry Meet Again

Updates and Progress

Hi my loves,
ohhh how I have missed you. It's March and already the month is almost over, and still I haven't had time to really sit down and do a proper post. i miss typing up a post and finding images to go with it, I miss seeing comments from those with similar outlooks and similar situations. I plain miss blogging (never thought I would say that). This is better than plain journaling, this helps you let go of your feelings and discover your not alone in them.

I have seen so many good posts from my phone (but for some reason am not able to post via phone, I tried it didn't go well). To several of my readers and fellow bloggers who have recently lost love ones, I am truly sorry for your loss. There are no words that will make your pain lighter, but know you are in my thoughts.

i am participating (Im making the time ) in the Welcoming the Green Man blog party on March 28th so do stop by and check out my post then.

I have so many posts, and ideas floating around my head, and as soon as this semester is over I will sharing them ALL with you, I have them all written down. I have been seriously enjoying my classes, and as with everything academic, hitting my grades out the ballpark.  So now that I know I'm in no real danger of failing out, I think I can now start taking 1 hour each day to update and share with ya'll.

Congrats to all the readers and bloggers whom I follow who have made major changes in their lives, by purchasing new homes (it's like a fever around here, very catching, oh come on!! I had to do one, you know you missed it). I can't wait to see all the new and improved altar spaces, and wonderful gardens and the bounties they will bring. Just waiting to hear ll about your new adventures on your properties (do share so I can live vicariously for now PLEASE).

Hope your Ostara was wonderful and looking forward to Spring break so I can really catch ya'll up.
Be Blessed and happy Spring

Sooo... about that

I'm not relaxing Im studying

I was trying my best not to fall back on not doing any posts, (I'm knocking this one out during a study break), but it's beginning to look like I might not be able to do the blog, my vlog channel and study/keep up with my class.

I feel pretty bad because I have so many really great ideas, just no time, Classes are everyday (it's an accelerated course) and I have a full course load so that I can finish this program in 12 months.

There are a lot of books, articles, and such to read, and I can't really read for pleasure anymore (although I have been trying). This week along I have five exams (literally one everyday), the course is attempting to front-load all the work we need up front so that the last few months are all clinicals.  My next break isn't until mid March (ahhh i know just crazy) but I am super excited to be working on my dream, and slowly but surely getting there.

I have made up my game plan for the next five years (as long as the world doesn't end on 12/21/12) and I am so on track right now and just bursting at the seams to share but I want to wait until this semester is in the bag and no possibilities for my plans to become FUBAR (f**ked up beyond all recognition, it's military speak)

I have been sneaking in some religious study time (especially on the train or bus) but  it's not always guaranteed. One good thing about this? i have to be up pretty early in the morning so I get to see and appreciate every sunrise, including the ones when the ice storm happened that made all the trees like crystals. I have also been really good with my yoga and walking(especially up the hill near school so I can catch the bus).

I hope all your plans, made on Yule, and your resolutions made on Samhain are growing and beginning to bloom with Ostara's energy cause I know mine are.

See you when I see you
Be Blessed

I have taken it down until the problem is resolved, and that means the old comment form is back up. Comment away, and let me know do you like the new comment format?? or do you prefer the old blogger form??

Happy Solar New Year

Hello my loves
are you recovering yet?? Well, welcome the New Year 2011, this is going to be an excellent and fun filled year. Work towards all your goals, as we are in charge of our destinies.

Some minor updates and changes, I wanted to thank all the participants of the 21 days of Yule blog party, as well as those who stopped by each participants blogs and entered into giveaways; made comments, and generally enjoyed reading the posts.

I also wanted to welcome and thank all the new subscribers, to the blog.
How i live my path maybe different from yours but hopefully we will be able to read each other's differences and not judge but gain an understanding of what make each of us beautifully unique,

As for the updates, I will be implementing the Disqus comments on my posts, so if you don't see your comments, DONT panic i didn't delete them, I changed over because it makes it easier to comment back to each poster, and allows each poster to see when I or others have replied to them And because Disqus isn't from blogger it doesn't keep the old comments, but I still have them they haven't gone anywhere

I have already started the Celtic Tree month posts, which will share some information about the tradition that influences my path greatly while sharing some information you may not have known.

I am also going to be doing the Dark Winter, Dark Magick event on The Domestic Pagan's blog. I have many things I wish to discuss and hope that you will stick around for the posts and the blog party.

I had created in November a new blog called On Alter'd Space, from a suggestion made by Wendy about doing a blog of just altar images. I wasn't sure at the time how to do it, and still am on the fence on how I wish for it to go. I know I wish to see all your altars, and would love to have a space to show mine also. Whatever else it will be will develop along with the page i'm guessing. So if your interested in having your pictures on the blog, email them to me at aishaoaktree1122 (@)* gmail.com            *(removing the parenthesis of course) and I will place them up on the blog. I think I will do postings for esbats and of course Sabbats. Whatever you set your altar up for, you can even do a small description of what each item  is for and I will put it up as a post. But I was mostly thinking of pictures (being worth a thousan words and all) and the name and link to the blog of the person, where you could of course then do a blog post about it.

I am participating in several book challenges throughout the year, if you have books you think i should check out definitely write in about them in the comment section. I will be doing reviews for all the books I read as well as attempting to knock off as many of my bucket list items off as possible. So stay tuned for all the fun & craziness. I have them listed on the sidebar, including the 100+ reading challenge, the E-book challenge, and the Show me the free E-book challenge.  and of course the iChallenge over at the Book Soulmates page.

I will also be starting a new semester on Jan 20th and I will have to concentrate more on school in the beginning (until I get into the swing of things). I am hoping this blog won’t be affected, but there are no guarantees, if it does become too difficult I will write a post and let you know.( I doubt it though I'm pretty well organized once I get into the swing of things)

I hope your New Year is going to be a Blessed and active one

Delayed post

Hi my loves, i know you are probably wondering why there isn't a post up today. Well as with all things, I made a plan, and the Gods made another. i got sick right before the 21 days started and I have been valiantly attempting to maintain a regular schedule with my ear infections. I managed to do some pretty awesome post (patting myself on the back here) but I just knew today wouldn't be one of the good ones, so instead of wasting both our time i thought i would confess, i haven't really gotten any sleep for the last few nights, and yet i somehow managed to make thru the last few days(it's a wonder I'm still alive ) as one day is so blurred out i have no idea how i made it home (i wasn't driving thank the Goddess, I had enough sense there).
I'm a little scattered and as much as I want to keep going I'm taking today off to get some much needed sleep and to ground and regroup. come Wed i will be back (here's hoping the gods didn't hear that, nothing they like more than a challenge).

Keep doing the amazing posts ladies and I'll try to catch up on today's and yesterday's post.

Sorry for the punctuation abuse, but really it's all I can do to type this, I hope i made sense and didn't just ramble on
ok good night/morning
blessed be

Desperate Plea

Hi my loves, in my eagerness to have a new post up I was too lazy to start a new draft on windows writer and when I posted to blogger to complete my Holiday bliss post completely disappeared. Most of what i wrote happened spur of the moment, and now can't recall, if someone saved the page can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE email it to me so i can repost it. god's this is what happens when you get sloppy.

Please let me know, because for some Goddess forsaken reason I hadn't written down the chant, I normally write them all out, but this one was almost done and as I was putting it up to share it finished itself. Now i have no earthly clue how it ends. the pictures i can recover, but once when i need it Google didn't cache the damn page. UGHHH

Let me know please so I can put it all back up in it's witty sharpness
Blessed Be
