Book Review

I'm an avid reader, I love any excuse to read, as a consequence I tend to read a lot of books quickly. I happen to also love a certain set of books; once I have found an author I tend to stick with them until their books fall off ( as in the writing technique takes a backseat to just pumping out books).  I love supporting good authors, & I have few I still read to this day, one of those who transitioned with me throughout the years has been PC Cast.

Her books are ones I enjoy re-reading when I can't find others to read.  The very first book she wrote which I read was Goddess by Mistake. I can't tell you how much I LOVE this book, and its corresponding series.
This however is the book that started it all.  Her characters are so well developed that I fell in love with ClanFintan and was rooting for him from the very beginning. Her character's strong will and love make her an amazing heroine.
The story creates an amazing alternate world to our own where all the creatures written about in our mythology live freely.  The story launched two series the Partholon series and the Divine series.

The Divine Series contains:
Goddess By Mistake (later re-named Divine by Mistake)
Divine by Choice

Shannon Parker has finally come to terms with life in the mythical world of Partholon. She loves her centaur husband, her connection to the goddess Epona and the pampering that comes with both! She's almost forgotten her old life on Earth—especially when she discovers she's pregnant….
Then a sudden burst of power sends her back to Oklahoma. Without magic, Shannon can't return to Partholon—and so she needs to find help. Trouble is, it might take the form of a man as tempting as her husband. And along the way she'll discover that being divine by mistake is a lot easier than being divine by choice….

I'm going to freely admit I had this book for a long time before I read it. I just couldn't see it. Some of the choices she made, just didn't jibe with Shannon from the first book. I picked it up and put it down several times and finally forced my self to read it; which is never a good way to get through a book, but its an ok story.  Many of the reviews online seem to jibe with this thought, with several peole who loved the other book really lambasting PC about this one. I'll let you be the judge, it's not a burn rubber to go get it book, but if your bored, its something to read.

Divine by Blood
Morrigan Christine Parker finds that turning 18 carries a heavy weight when you're the only daughter of Rhiannon MacCallan, disgraced high priestess to the goddess Epona, in Cast's down-home follow-up to 2006's Divine by Choice. After Rhiannon betrayed Epona, the goddess bestowed her favor on Rhiannon's look-alike, Shannon Parker. Rhiannon promised her allegiance to the evil god Pryderi, but recanted after Morrigan's birth, giving the child over to Epona's protection and the care of Shannon's parents. Now Morrigan comes of age and learns more about her heritage from her adoptive grandparents and the wind-borne whispers of Pryderi and Epona. While visiting the Alabaster Caverns State Park and exploring her power over rocks and crystals, Morrigan is unexpectedly transported to the mystical realm of Partholon, where she must find Shannon and fulfill her destiny

I tried readers I really did, but I had been lead to hate Rhiannon and all she stood for, that hate kinda rolls over onto all things she has touched, especially since she was such a little shyt to those on the other side of Partholon. So this book took even longer to get through becuase I was constantly trying to reconcile how i felt about her and how this storyline moved. I will also admit to not finishing this one, its still sitting on the shelf, until such a time where I can read it without thinking that it was shyt. Not that it really is but once you have a thought in your head on how things are supposed to go its hard to let it go when the author changes it. When i finish I will do a proper review but for now, its like the second book, not a burn rubber, wait in line to get it, but if you have no other books, pick it up check it out

Divine Beginnings (ebook only)

The Partholon Series is the off-shoot of the Divine Series and is more of a future look:

Elphame's Choice
I was marked from birth as belonging to the Goddess Epona--but that didn't make my life easy. Because of my "blessings," I was set apart, worshipped, unable to make real connections with others. Then came the Feeling, and with it a glimpse of my destiny. It led me to the MacCallen castle of legend, deserted since the terrible Fomorian war.
I followed the wordless call to breathe new life into a place long dead, but I didn't realize there were dark remnants of the war lingering in the nearby forest--victims and survivors who remained hidden. Others marked as different, powerful. Feared.
My choice was now twofold. I could keep to the happiness and safety of my newfound home, or I could choose a path that led to something more terrible, more dangerous, more thrilling than anything I'd ever expected.

I love LOVE LOVE this book. This is the story i wished to read after Goddess(Divine) by Mistake.  I wanted (like others Im sure) to know what happened after Shannon became Epona's Choosen, and what happened to her children, how where their lives.
I still love this one to this day. I re-read it for the purpose of this blog and can easily say its just as good as the first book. I wouldn't want Elphame's choices, but she handled them with grace and made and amazing life for herself.  Reminded me of Shannon/Rhea when she got to Partholon.  This book is set a few years into the future after Shannon/Rhea's reign and isn't her daugther's story but is the story of her descendant. Definitely burn rubber to get this one or at least if your at the store pick it up.

Brighid's Quest
Haven't read yet, but will.
You can find them on her page on amazon (referenced above). I hope you enjoy them as much as I have,

Enjoy your trip to Partholon my loves
Safe Flight there and back :P
