According to the Winter Solstice book by John Matthews there are 12 days counting from Christmas until 12th night which is January 6th, which according to the Rastafarians is the actual date of Christ's birthday. These days are believed to really exist outside of linear time.
They are, in a sense, the fruit of the past year, one day for each month that has passed. In the Celtic system today is the day between the Celtic months, yesterday Wednesday was when the Celtic month of Elder ended and Friday, Christmas Eve is when the month of Birch begins. Within all the calendars there are days which don't fit within the basic calendar, they are called intercalary- such as the 29th day added to the leap year.
Day 0 is Dec 25th, the birthday of Mithras, Attis, Horus, Dionysus, and the Unconquered Sun.
